Am I Missing Something With This Nintendo App?
Nintendo just released their own music streaming app and a lot of people like it...am I the only one who thinks it's a little user hostile?
Okay so I can't be the only one who feels like the Nintendo music app is unnecessary and simply another list item in the "We'll do anything but be accommodating to our customers" saga that Nintendo likes to do.
Is This Just Me?
I'm not a big Nintendo person. I have a Switch Lite, I use it every so often. I play the occasional Smash game (Ness main, by the way...I'm not sorry). But other than that I'm not really much of a Nintendo user, so I may be way off here.
Why Doesn't Nintendo Just Put Their Music In Normal Streaming Apps?
I don't quite get Nintendo's desire to have so much control here. It's kinda their thing, they sell outdated, underpowered consoles to play their games despite the fact that people already have a more capable device with them at all times, they don't really bring their games to other platforms, and now they need to have their own streaming app for some reason. I just don't really get it. It seems unnecessary and a little obnoxious.
Conclusion
Am I missing something here? I feel like Nintendo has an unhealthy desire for control over their platforms and that control is limiting how much they can reach their customers. It's not necessarily that MarioKart isn't selling well enough, but I feel like it's not making a better experience for customers, it's just a cash grab in an attempt to exert as much control over their IP as possible. What am I missing? Let me know over on Mastodon.
