Technology Blog Challenge
Here's my sleep-deprived attempt at the technology blog challenge going around—I'm sorry (no I'm not)

Well it’s about time I got around to doing one of these, and you’re gonna get my kinda sick, sleep deprived, long-week-and-it’s-only-Wednesday takes on these questions. Buckle up, you’re in for a ride. Let’s get into it.
When Did You First Get Interested in Technology?
I first got into technology in general around 2016, when I was just starting high school. The reason I got into it then was also really stupid: I was sitting in my room and listening to music and I noticed how the end of my charging cable and the end of my EarPods were the same length. For some reason I really appreciated that attention to detail and I started to get into Apple. The first Apple event I watched was the 2016 MacBook Pro launch, it was also the first rumor cycle I followed.
Before then, I was much more into recording and music production, especially around guitar and bass. I had always grown up around tech since my dad is a sysadmin. I spent a lot of time when I was little in data centers and one of my earliest memories of technology was when we swapped a motherboard when I was like 5. Back then our family computer was an Ubuntu machine and I feel like that’s probably a more defining part of my personality than I previously thought. Huh.
What’s Your Favorite Piece of Technology of All-Time
Apple Silicon. Why? Not sure. I just think it’s a super interesting platform. It was a complete rethink of how a desktop computer should be architected from a hardware standpoint. I didn’t get deep into hardware engineering in school, I was mostly dealing with the software side of things, but I’ve always found hardware interesting. The new features that it allowed for by opening up the thermal and power budget for ancillary circuits like a Neural Processor, media engines, and the like, were super cool. I wish I had more to say about it, but it just feels super cool to use. It was a night and day difference between my Intel MacBook Pro and my M2 MacBook Air and it’s still something that amazes me a year and a half later.
What’s Your Favorite Piece of Technology Right Now?
ActivityPub. The fediverse is something I’ve really fallen in love with. I wasn’t around for the early web days, but I like that the fediverse makes the internet feel more connected. I like to create things and I feel like being able to connect with people in an organic way really helps that creativity. I definitely feel like it’s the future of the internet. Need proof of my investment? I literally named my company “Stygian Tech and Social Innovations” to incorporate working on fediverse projects. I’ve got stuff in the works (trust me).
Name One Cool Piece of Technology We’ll Have in 25 Years
Probably SkyNet, if I’m being honest. Good for humanity? Nope. Cool? Yup.
Closing Thoughts
I haven’t been in the game long (I’m fairly certain I’m the youngest person in my fediverse social circle at 23), so I feel like I don’t quite have the stories other people have, but I hope I was able to entertain you with my sleep-deprived delirium. You can find me on Mastodon. As for tagging people to do this now, I will consider this an open invitation. If you’ve got some interesting stories to tell about technology (or you are also in a sleep-deprived delirium) then have at it. Tag me when you post the article!
